TO REPORT AN EMERGENCY CALL 9-1-1
Being a firefighter in a small town means protecting neighbors you know and places you recognize. Firefighters respond to structure fires, medical calls, vehicle accidents, and weather emergencies, often covering both town and rural areas. The role requires training, teamwork, and steady judgment, with a strong emphasis on prevention, readiness, and service. It is public safety work rooted in community trust, not recognition.
Becoming a firefighter starts with commitment. Applicants must meet basic eligibility requirements and complete required training. No prior experience is needed. Just reliability, willingness to learn, and dedication to serving the community.
To apply, complete the application and submit a PDF, image, or screenshot of the following documents: a valid driver’s license, Social Security card, high school diploma or equivalent, parental consent form as needed, a certified criminal background check from all counties lived in within the last 20 years, and a certified driving record from all states lived in within the last seven years.

Ages 14–17. Learn fire service basics, safety, teamwork, and CPR. Participate in drills and community events. Observe calls with supervision. Build skills for future volunteer or career service.
Ages 18+. Serve the community while completing state Firefighter I/II, HazMat, and CPR training. Respond to calls, attend regular drills, meet ongoing certification requirements, and get really cool gear to wear!
Full-time professional firefighter. Complete academy training, written and physical testing, and often EMT certification. Work scheduled shifts and maintain annual skills and safety standards.
